Spoilers: Hero Evelyn saves the day for distraught Roy in Coronation Street
Iconic Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) is on a mission next week in Coronation Street as it becomes apparent the late Hayley Cropper’s (Julie Hesmondhalgh) red anorak has ended up in a charity shop!
The situation occurs due to a very innocent Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove), who arrived in Weatherfield back in 2019, so never met Roy’s (David Neilson) partner.
Desperate for some extra cash, Bernie persuades Nina (Mollie Gallagher) to let her give the flat a good clean for Roy’s birthday.
As the flat is turned upside down (the horror), Bernie finds a box of old clothes and suggests to Nina they should be donated to charity.
Nina agrees, but fails to spot Hayley’s red coat!
The next day, Evelyn arrives in the café with a model train for Roy’s birthday.
Roy thanks Evelyn for the gift, but then realises it actually used to be his.
Realising that the train must have come from the same charity shop where Hayley’s anorak is residing, Evelyn orders Roy to fire up the Woody.
Evelyn has a heart of gold…really.
Heading into the establishment, Evelyn rips the anorak from Joy’s back and legs it, but how will Roy react when Evelyn returns with Hayley’s beloved coat?
Will she tell him about the incident with Joy?
