On Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing, Molly Rainford landed in the bottom two once again alongside Kym Marsh. The duo and their dance partners had to perform once again before the judges decided who they wanted to stay in the competition. However, after a vote, head judge Shirley Ballas said she was sending home Kym and Graziano di Prima.
Following the latest dramatic elimination, fans believe dance pro Carlos may not return next year after landing in the bottom two four times.
One fan took to Reddit to share their theory, which sparked a huge reaction among other Strictly viewers.
Credentials penned: “This season, he has been beaten down so much by all of the comments and dance-offs, to the point where it sometimes seems like he dreads the end of every performance because he knows that he and Molly will almost certainly get it rough however well they do.”
User SZ was quick to respond, claiming they believe Carlos may not return to the show next year.
The fan said: “Hoping Carlos will come back but I agree with what you say.
“He was great in the first few weeks but I do agree that he seems a bit beaten down now and has lost a bit of his early pizzazz.
“If he’s on next year, give him an Alison Hammond type – decent public vote for a few weeks, no pressure, good fun.” (sic)
“I get what you’re saying and honestly with Molly being in the DO I think half of it down to Carlos as well,” Katie replied.
“Not having picked up a huge fan base. Since Alijaz, Janette, Karen etc.. all started I think we’ve got to know the pros a lot more and their popularity is half of what gets them votes.
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s Molly and Fleur with the 2 new pros who’ve been in the DO the most.”
Fans on Twitter have also aired their concerns for Carlos after landing in the bottom three four times.
Many have quizzed whether the public has taken a dislike to the professional dancer.
Martin Johnson wrote: “WTF is poor Molly doing in the Dance Off again! Is it because people don’t like Carlos or what. That Charleston was brilliant!!” (sic)
Caroline asked: “Everyone wondering why Molly is in the dance-off. Perhaps it’s Carlos the public aren’t warming too?#Strictly.” (sic)
Tracey added: “Really feel for Molly and Carlos. No matter how great they are, the support just isn’t there.
“The power to decide needs to be removed from the public and all their biases; if you’re bottom two, you compete in the dance-off.”
After Molly and Carlos were saved last night, host Tess Daly asked Kym about her Strictly journey.
The former soap star explained: “Honestly I’ve loved every single second that I’ve been here.
“I never thought I’d get to this stage, in a million years. I have to say, it’s all down to this man [Graziano] here, he is just wonderful and he will be my friend forever.
“But what a journey it’s been, this show is just wonderful, it shows you things about yourself you don’t know, it shows you how tough you can be.
“Everybody, the crew, the celebs, the pros, costume, makeup, everyone is amazing. I’ve had the best time, so thank you.”
The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor next week for the semi-final when Strictly Come Dancing will air live on Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
