The Strictly Come Dancing spin-off series, It Takes Two returned on Tuesday with host Rylan Clark speaking to the contestants ahead of Saturday night’s performance. During a conversation with Katya Jones and Tony Adams, the professional dancer dished on what Tony was banned from doing.
After taking to the dancefloor for week four, football legend Tony Adams got a step closer to taking home the highly desired glitterball trophy.
He and Katya performed the American Smooth to Joe Crocker’s With A Little Help From My Friends and were awarded 26 points.
As they prepare to return to the floor with Century Week, they appeared on It Takes Two to discuss their rehearsals.
To celebrate BBC turning 100 years old duo would be dancing to the BBC Sports theme, however, Katya revealed Tony was banned from talking to himself as it hindered his performance.
She shared: “I figured something out last week and this week it confirmed.”
“Last week I said ‘can you talk me through your thoughts when you do this step’, and taking into consideration I’ve told him what to think on every step.”
As she imitated Tony, Katya added: “I said ‘No you can’t think of 500 things on one single step’, he’s like ‘But that’s what I’m thinking’.”
Katya explained: “Now that you’ve spoken on your thoughts I know where you’re going wrong.”
As the pro circled her finger above Tony’s head, she stated: “This is not good for you, so he is not allowed.”
Before she could finish, Rylan joked: “You’re not on about the hair.”
To which Katya clarified: “No, he’s not allowed to talk to himself, his inner dialogue is utter rubbish.”
As the studio audience roared with laughter, she continued: “He’s only allowed to listen to me, my voice.”

Katya then turned to Tom and asked: “Understood?”
After laughing, Rylan also probed: “Understood Ton?” To which the retired football manager responded: “You can’t argue with that mate.”
“And then we’re going to be flying,” Katya added.
Speaking on their upcoming Cha Cha Cha, Katya teased: “There will be a few sports thrown about, it’s fun.”
Although they came in 11th place, Tony and Katya wowed the judges and received positive feedback from the panel.
After extended applause from the audience and the judges, Shirley Ballas stated: “I wasn’t expecting that, you’ve totally stepped outside of your comfort zone,” and praised his footwork.
