Strictlys Maisie Smith admits hair was falling out in clumps on Celebrity SAS

Maisie Smith admits her hair fell out in “clumps” while filming the latest series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The former EastEnders star is set to push herself to her limits during the fourth series of the gruelling Channel 4 reality show alongside the likes of former Love Island winner Amber Gill, ex Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard and his brother Curtis, and TOWIE star Pete Wicks.

It’s fair to say the fiery redhead looks worlds away from her glamorous life on the Strictly set after she was forced to ditch her home luxuries in the heart of London for the nail-biting armed forces show set in the Jordanian desert.

And it appears as though the adjustment period was more physical than she first expected, as she confessed that her hair started to fall out just days into her time in the star-studded camp.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, the TV star revealed how she first started noticing her hair was falling out when she took her daily cold shower at the home base.

She told the publication: “At the start, I was trying to look in the coffee cups just to see if I had spots and my hair fell out! For a good few showers, clump after clump.

“I think it was just from having it in that tight bun and all the mud and sand stuck in it. But as the days went on, you just tend to stop caring at all.”

Masie went on to explain how the celebrities are given the bare essentials meaning they have no access to mirrors, makeup or comfortable clothes which helped her to feel more empowered when she returned to her glamorous lifestyle.

The actress continued: “It was the first time I've ever not cared and it was very refreshing. I found that when I came back, when I was at home, that sort of feeling stayed.

“I was like, ‘You know what, I've just done something that’s made me the strongest I've ever felt mentally and physically’.

“So, when I came back, I just felt incredible. It was quite nice that we weren’t allowed to see ourselves.”

Ahead of the nerve-wracking experience, the Tiffany Butcher star shared her hopes that her participation on the show would help inspire viewers at home while they get to see !a lot of vulnerable sides” to her personality.

She said at the time: “I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone and seeing how strong I can be physically and mentally.

“I think as well, being a young woman in the world, I wanted to be that empowering, strong woman who could go out there and say, ‘Look, I’m pushing myself to the limit, and I definitely left feeling pretty strong’.”
