Stu is stunned by life-changing news in Coronation Street murder story
When we first met Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) in Coronation Street, he was introduced as a homeless character who would often enter Speed Daal for some of their donated food.
As we got to know him, he became a massive part of the storyline that saw Corey (Maximus Evans) sent down for the attack on Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Seb (Harry Visinoni), which resulted in Seb’s death.
With Stu settling into life at Yasmeen’s (Shelley King) the peacefulness allowed the perfect opportunity to crash a new plot onto him – and that was Stu spending 30 years behind bars for murder.
Initially, everyone assumed that Stu did kill a young girl called Charlie all those years ago but as time went on, it became apparent that he was completely innocent.
Add new character Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) into the mix, and we eventually discovered that Stu was treated terribly by the investigating officers during the case, and that his daughter, Bridget, was actually responsible for Charlie’s death.
With Bridget and Lucy (Bridget’s mum, who helped cover up the murder) behind bars, Stu’s granddaughter, Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) is now living with him, Yasmeen and Alya (Sair Khan).
Coming up, Stu is shocked to hear that he stands to get around £200k compensation after everything he’s been through.
However, he’s later devasted to discover that Eliza is being bullied at school because her mum is in prison.
This prompts Stu to look for another school so Eliza can start afresh but after expressing his thoughts on Oakhill, Eliza admits she’s not keen on that idea.
She finds Sam (Jude Riordan) and asks what Weathy High is like and eventually, Stu relents.
It looks Eliza is heading to Weatherfield High.
