Susanna Reid fights tears as friend opens up on ‘final days’ with cancer
Susanna Reid seems emotional during Suki interview
Susanna Reid held back tears as her friend Suki Thompson gave her a message of thanks during a live interview on Good Morning Britain.
Entrepreneur Suki is a close friend of Susanna’s and is raising awareness of skin cancer after her diagnosis, which is incurable.
Suki told viewers about the importance of using suncream and how she had no idea skin cancer could spread to the brain, which happened to her.
As the moving interview concluded, Susanna described her friend as “human sunshine” and Suki took the opportunity to thank the presenter.
“You do know, people like you are so important to me,” Suki remarked. “I’m so inspired by friends like you, Susanna.”

Suki went on: “And your programme’s really important to me, because all my medication in the morning revolves around Good Morning Britain.
“So I start it at six o’clock and I finish my medication just before nine o’clock when Lorraine comes on.
“So I am – I was always – an avid fan, but now our whole rotation is around you in the morning, so thank you for that as well.”

A visibly touched Susanna simply nodded and smiled before commenting: “Right well, we’ve got Lorraine right here!”
She then passed over to her ITV co-star Lorraine Kelly, who also applauded Suki’s bravery.
Suki sat upright on a bed alongside her daughter, Jaz, as she gave the interview, determined to keep others from facing her fate.
“Mine was on the side of my foot,” she explained. “When they did the biopsy on it they found out it was melanoma.
“And then I had several taken out and each time it never presented as what you would traditionally think of as a melanoma, so it’s so important to keep checking and visit your doctor to get these things checked out.”
Viewers also praised Suki’s courage, with Twitter user @michaelgoulston penned: “Wow… what an amazing lady…”
@Jo_WhiteheadUK commented: “Listening to Suki’s sun protection message on #GMB whilst knowing she’s in her final days of cancer is heartbreaking.
“I’ve always used moisturisers & foundation with SPF but I’m sure could do more. I’m getting a growing skin tag & mole checked before removal. Don’t leave them.” (sic)
@donnamrowan added: “The interview with Suki Thompson really taught me something and I’m grateful to see it #GMB.”
