Whoopi Goldberg walks off set during Miranda Lambert debate

Whoopi Goldberg walked off as The View stars discussed country music singer Miranda Lambert telling fans off for taking selfies during her concert.

Members of the audience at Lambert’s concert on Sunday were posing for selfies as she performed but the star stopped the show as it was “p****g her off.”

During The View on Tuesday, the entire viral clip was shown with co-star Sunny Hostin, 54, openly siding with concertgoers.

She stated that she was “going to take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757 for tickets. I’m sorry, just me!”

Whoopi, 67, on the other hand, couldn’t disagree more, seeing the situation from Lambert’s perspective.

“You know what? Stay home”, Whoopi began.

“If you’re going to spend $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing, or don’t come.”

Hostin continued to explain how she takes pictures at concerts to preserve memories and sometimes would like the “music in the background”.

Clearly fed up by the conversation, Whoopi left her seat and walked off, telling Hostin to “turn on the television girl” and exclaimed “I’m leaving ya’ll!”, with her co-stars questioning where she was going.

In an attempt to prove her point, Whoopi went over to a member of the audience and said: “I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman, who is 91”, and proceeded with snapping away before the show went to a commercial break.

A TikTok video has gone viral of Lambert’s concert at the weekend as she paused to tell fans off for taking selfies as she sang.

In the clip, she is seen telling her pianist: “I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry.

“These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song.

“It’s p*****g me off a little bit. Sorry, I don’t like it. At all.

“We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music.”

The video proceeded to show some audience members walking out on The House That Built Me singer with one person heard saying “Let’s go, you don’t do that to fans”.

Adela Calin, one of the women who was addressed by Lambert for taking selfies, told NBC News: “It felt like I was back at school with the teacher scolding me for doing something wrong and telling me to sit down back in my place.

“I feel like she was determined to make us look like we were young, immature, and vain.

“But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture”, adding that it took “30 seconds at most”.

The View is available to watch on ABC.
