The Chases Mark Labbett wants to appear on rival show, says TV star girlfriend

The Chase star Mark Labbett wants to join a rival TV show, says his presenter girlfriend.

The 57-year-old brainbox has been a chaser on ITV quiz show The Chase and is known to viewers as The Beast.

The professional quizzer began dating TV presenter Hayley Palmer five months ago after they mat at the National Television Awards in October.

Hayley, 41, told The Sun that Mark would be up for joining the line-up for Strictly Come Dancing, and that her background could come in handy in helping him perform on the show.

“He really wants to do Strictly” she told the publication. “And I used to be a dancer as well, so I’d be able to help him.”

During the pandemic, the game show star split with his wife Katie, 30, who is mother to his five-year-old son Lawrence.

But the TV personality has found happiness again with Hayley, who has worked for GB News, after their friendship blossomed into romance.

The presenter gushed: “It’s still early days but we are both really happy,” adding: "It’s been such a lovely whirlwind."

Mark has been dedicated to his weight loss journey over the past few years, shedding a whopping 10 stone since 2021.

The quizzer previously revealed that his weight prevented him from landing other career opportunities after he was turned down from starring in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Discussing her beau's weight loss transformation, Hayley said: 'He looks incredible. I'm so proud of him. He looks really good.'

Mark's battle with diabetes was a factor that played a part in his weight loss journey.

"I think the diabetes may have helped because I eat a lot less. I drink a lot more fluids," he previously said.

He added: "And looking after a five year old during lockdown didn't help. The amount of times I collapsed in a heap! Plus I'm so busy these days".
