In one of the latest episodes of the restoration programme, David was tasked with repairing a 100-year-old ventriloquist dummy named George.

The owner of George, Alison, was given the puppet when she was 11 years old to help boost her confidence.

However, when she presented the doll to David, it was broken both on the inside and the outside.

His face was scuffed, chipped and the inner workings that moved his eyes and mouth had seized up.

Sharing a snap of George’s makeover, David wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone, recognise this little chap?

“I wasn’t quite sure what to make of George when he arrived, but Alison really brought George to life with her story of how much he helped her as a child.

“George really grew on me and he really was the cheeky little chappy she said he was!

“A few organ building skills came in handy with him, and Kirsten and the bear ladies’ wonderful skills all came together to make him quite the dapper chap! #therepairshop #bbc1.” (sic)

The Repair Shop is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
