This Morning star Alison Hammond was reunited with a woman called Hamsetu Omokaro after two years apart. Hamsetu first met Alison on the ITV daytime programme when the presenter handed her a £1,000 cash prize to visit her mum in America. Hamsetu was overwhelmed by the surprise and was just as excited when she reconnected with Alison on Thursday’s episode of This Morning, but viewers were not impressed.
Alison was invited onto the latest episode of the show to discuss being nominated for a National Television Award for Best Presenter.
As she was being interviewed by hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, they revealed they had a surprise for her.
Hamsetu then made her grand This Morning entrance and rushed over to give Alison a big hug.
She entered the studio yelling with her hands in the air: “Hello, oh yeah.”
Alison started cackling as Hamsetu hugged Phillip before embracing Holly who said it was “nice to properly meet” her.
She then started screaming as she embraced Alison during the segment and she could not contain her excitement about being on the programme.
The last time the guest met Alison she was not able to hug her due to coronavirus restrictions and she continued to shriek as she sat on the This Morning sofa beside the hosts.
Hamsetu kept shouting out “oh my God” before she moved over to hug Holly once again.
Holly tried to calm the guest down and asked her if she made it to New York to visit her family.
Hamsetu confirmed the money allowed her to fly to the States and she told Holly: “I did and it was lovely.”
However, swarms of viewers criticised the chaotic segment and took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
@Sparkle10091250 fumed: “@AlisonHammond omg the woman screeching is too much #ThisMorning.” (sic)
@Notonmytv penned: “Local dogs are howling after that noise #ThisMorning.”
Julian Spoons said: “Horrific screaming, what a mess ITV. #ThisMorning.”
Lorraine Clark remarked: “This is what British television has come to #ThisMorning.”
However, other viewers thoroughly enjoyed seeing Hamsetu back on their screens for the hilarious reunion.
Chantal Mascoe wrote: “#ThisMorning I love that lady though she’s hilarious.”
@Phoenix52000 added: “#ThisMorning God I needed #Hamsetu today! What a beautiful soul.” (sic)
This Morning viewers will find out if Alison wins a National Television Award tonight when the ceremony airs on ITV at 8pm.
This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
