Unforgotten fans all have the same complaint about ITV's series five | The Sun

ITV’S UNFORGOTTEN has left viewers “confused” and unable to follow the complicated plot threads in series five.

The series, which aired last month, has undergone a major cast change after Cassandra 'Cassie' Stuart (Nicola Walker) was unexpectedly killed off in series four.

Her replacement, Jessica James (Sinéad Keenan) joins forces with returning character Sunil 'Sunny' Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) to try and solve historic cases.

Series five of Unforgotten premiered with the discovery of a body in a chimney in Hammersmith, and it was evident that Sunny and Jessica were not going to have a positive working relationship.

But as the plot developed, viewers struggled to keep up with the multiple storylines that introduced more characters across different locations.

The dead body was revealed to be Precious Falade, whose parents were the troubled couple introduced in the first episode.

Meanwhile there was another storyline set in Paris where Karol Wojski (Max Rinehart) was suffering relationship dramas with his girlfriend Elise (Holly Aird) who was going through a messy divorce.

Viewers revealed on social media that they were confused, with one writing: “I don't often say this but: Too many separate storylines and I'm a bit lost. #Unforgotten.”

Another said: “Confusing #Unforgotten," while one asked: ”Was #unforgotten always this confusing at the start?”

Some complained about the decision to flash text messages up in the screen, one fan said: “#Unforgotten am I the only one who despairs at the constant use of phone messages?

While others were keen to see how the remaining four episodes develop.
