As the school year in 2023 begins, it’s time to head back to class in more ways than one, as the BBC series Waterloo Road also makes a triumphant return.

The show – created by Ann McManus and Maureen Chadwick – left our screens in 2015 after 200 episodes and nine years on screen.

But it is now back for an eleventh series, returning to its original Greater Manchester setting with both new and familiar faces heading back to the classroom.

But when is the show back on TV, and what channel will it be on?

When does Waterloo Road start?

The wait is finally over, as Waterloo Road returns today – January 3rd 2023.

The very first episode of the school drama aired on March 9 2006 on BBC One, before coming to an end initially on March 9 2015 after it had moved to BBC Three.

What time is Waterloo Road on and what channel?

Waterloo Raod will air at 8pm on BBC One, immediately after EastEnders.

The series will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer, with the comeback series consisting of seven episodes.

He’ll face some rivalry from co-deputy Joe Casey, played by fellow fresh cast member James Baxter.

Among the students, the likes of rising actors Adam Abbou, Priyasasha Kumari and Noah Valentine will be hoping the show propels their careers, as it did for the likes of Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor and Rege-Jean Page, who had early roles in the drama.
