World On Fire viewers break down in tears as BBC series returns to screens after four years | The Sun

WORLD On Fire is back on BBC after four years, and viewers were not prepared for how it would leave them feeling.

The BBC One series first aired in 2019, and after a very long break, season two landed on fans' screens yesterday.

Airing weekly on Sundays – or available to stream in full on iPlayer – viewers were transported to 1940s Britain with this season set to cover the Manchester Blitz, Harry's love triangle after his return from Dunkirk, and the beginning of the North African campaign.

Season one saw Harry Chase cheat on his sweetheart in England, while working as a translator in Poland during World War II.

On returning home, Harry eventually tells Lois about his romance with Kasia in Warsaw.

A distraught Lois discovers she is pregnant with Harry's child.

In an awkward unplanned situation, Kasia meets Lois for the first time, as well as Harry and Lois' baby, Vera.

Torn by the delight of seeing his darling daughter and wanting to comfort his wife Kasia, Harry is denied the opportunity to hold his baby.

Later in the episode, Kasia reveals she is a "fighter" and wants to return to Warsaw to help her people.

The emotional scene sees the pair exchange love and affection, as Kasia battles her internal conflict to go home.

Harry says: "The moment I left you behind in Warsaw I wanted you to be safe, and you are safe now. You don't need to fight any more.

"You can begin to become yourself again."

Kasia hits back: "I am a soldier, not a sister or wife."

He answers her: "No, you are my wife."

With tears down her face, she replies: "No, I am just a woman you got trapped with as your timing was wrong."

Audience members are calling for more from the war-torn lovers stating that their love story is one of the best on the BBC.

One viewer shared photos of a scene between Kasia and Harry in season two that was too much for them and said: "I'm not okay after watching this #worldonfire."

A second chimed in: "This scene killed me #WorldOnFire."

Another said: "OMG SAME! I need them back together and happy in season 3 because that was not okay!"

A fa of the show added: "I'm still processing what just happened, like I'm not emotionally okay."

One emotional viewer said: "Making all the Harry and Kasia shippers have a breakdown with this scene, I need them back together #worldonfire."

A binger of the series added: "I just finished season 2, and I need more…..Also, Harry and Kasia #WorldOnFire."
