Yasmeen's fear as Stu exhibits signs of control around Eliza in Corrie
As Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) goes about her day to day life in Coronation Street, her family and friends know she remains fragile when it comes to relationships.
This is, of course, down to her past with Geoff (Ian Bartholomew).
The abusive and controlling relationship Yasmeen was in saw her comply to Geoff’s rules all of the time, regularly and extensively cleaning the house and making sure she didn’t miss one of the small red crosses her partner would place on the walls.
The ordeal later impacted Yasmeen’s next relationship – with Stu (Bill Fellows).
When Stu’s past in prison was revealed, Yasmeen was thrown right back to Geoff’s abuse and even suffered a horrific nightmare that saw Ian Bartholomew reprise his role (Geoff’s dead, don’t worry).
Now, things are very different.
Stu’s name has been cleared, Yasmeen is working at Speed Daal and the entire family are helping young Eliza feel settled in Weatherfield.
Because this is the first time (in many, many years) Stu has looked after a young girl, he’s a bit out of practice – not to mention how different life was when Bridget (Beth Vyse) was little!
The goal for Stu is – impress, impress, impress – but that causes Yasmeen some fear next week.
Stu wakes up and panics, fearing Eliza will be late for school.
When he comes down the stairs, he’s put out to discover Yasmeen has sorted breakfast and Alya (Sair Khan) has plaited Eliza’s hair.
While the young girl is at school, Stu pins a timetable of Eliza’s hobbies to the kitchen cupboard door and asserts that she’s not to miss out on anything as she’s had enough upheaval.
Yasmeen looks at the list, feeling concerned, but should she be?
With Stu feeling pressured, will Yasmeen help?
