Coronation Street icon supported by co-stars as they announce exit from ITV soap

Coronation Street actress Cait Fitton has announced her exit from the cobbles after several months starring as Lauren Bolton.

The star played Max Turner’s girlfriend, who was in deep with Griff’s racist gang.

She was last seen on-screen trying to get Max on-side, before luring Griff back into his home before his eventual arrest – with Max left feeling betrayed that she would put him in danger.

This week, Lauren decided to go and stay with her mum in Devon, and Max didn’t want to join her.

Now Cait has penned an emotional statement about her exit from the cobbles, taking to Instagram to share a cosy snap of her alongside Max star Paddy Bever.

The pair wrapped up in their matching ITV duffel coats – Cait’s red and Paddy’s blue – as they shared a giggle together by the Rovers set.

Cait wrote alongside the snap: “Wow! What an incredible few months it has been on the cobbles!

“I want to start off by saying how grateful I am to all my family, friends and of course the supporters of the show who have taken the time out to reach out and show their support.

“It has truly been an experience of a lifetime!”

She went on: “I want to say a huge thank you to @coronationstreet who have welcomed me in with open arms and trusted me to be a part of such an important storyline.

“Thank you to my agent @brookekinsella for your consistent belief in me in helping me to achieve one of my absolute dreams.

“Thank you to my on screen partner in crime @paddybever. Paddy you are an absolute diamond, an incredible talent, and I feel so privileged to have worked with you.

“You are the most hard working, most kindest person I know, thank you for taking me under your wing and making me feel apart of something so special.

“From the bottom of my heart – thank you,” she concluded.

It wasn’t long before Cait’s Corrie co-stars chimed in with tributes to the actress, with Paddy commenting: “Bravo Cait. Thank you so much for your kind words.”

Jack James Ryan, who plays Jacob Hay on the cobbles, added: “She’ll be back!”

Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan, and Shona Platt star Julia Goulding were also quick to like the sweet post.

Another fan branded Cait an “absolute superstar”, writing: “I wish you all the best for your future ahead, the world’s your oyster!”

Someone else chimed in: “Fingers crossed they have you back, you have been fantastic!”
