Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Paramount Network’s hit western drama Yellowstone, which will premiere its fifth season in November. With this excitement, viewers have anticipated a huge family divide which could see John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) against Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly). 

The highly anticipated fifth season is expected to be an explosive one as John takes a step further to protect his treasured ranch. 

The trailer revealed John’s career would switch to a more legal route as he will be sworn in as the Governor of Montana. 

With his adopted son, Jamie working as an attorney things could get tense for those looking to get a piece of the Yellowstone ranch. 

However, fans have also anticipated a major family twist which suggested John could turn his back on his beloved daughter after learning what she made Jamie do. 

Taking to a Yellowstone fan page, Redditor Aikidoker15 wrote: “By any chance am I the only one who would be overjoyed if in season 5 John finds out what Beth made Jamie do and, for one time, he will side, and maybe even end up reconciling, with him? 

“It is a slim possibility, especially the last part, but I have long since had enough of Beth. 

“Not wanting to forgive Jamie is understandable after what he did to her years before, but that does not excuse everything she has done to him since the beginning of the series.”

Although Jamie had been adopted into the Dutton family as a child, viewers learned Beth had nothing but hatred for him. 

During season three, it was revealed Jamie had granted permission for Beth to be sterilised without her consent when she was a teenager. 

As a youngster, she became pregnant and asked her brother to accompany her to the clinic for a termination. 

But when the Doctor asked if she wanted to be sterilised, Jamie agreed and kept it hidden as she struggled to conceive with her longtime boyfriend Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). 

During the season five finale, Beth finally got her revenge in a sinister way after she took a photo of Jamie dumping his biological father Garrett Randall’s (Will Patton) dead body. 

In season three, she, John and her brother Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) faced life-threatening attacks at the same time, despite being in a different place. 

As Jamie wasn’t touched, Beth assumed it had something to do with him and he had set it up. 

Although John wasn’t convinced he was able to trace the attempted murders to Garrett.

As a result, he gave Jamie a challenge to test his loyalty and ordered him to kill his biological father, which was brutal as they had started bonding. 

Garrett wanted the family dead, so Jamie could inherit the fortune, which would also make him rich. 

However, as Jamie went to get rid of his corpse, Beth snapped an incriminating photo and it’s yet to be seen what she will do with it. 

If John finds out, he may side with Jamie and turn his back on his daughter, which will undoubtedly divide the family. 

Thankfully for fans, the wait will soon be over as season five will land on screens in November.

Yellowstone season five will premiere on Sunday, November 13 on Paramount Network.
