'Amazing' dad-of-three died on London to Brighton bike ride with 10 family members days before birthday trip | The Sun
A DAD-of-three died raising funds in his 24th London to Brighton charity bike ride.
David Cooper, from Battersea, was found dead at the scene in Smallfield, Surrey, on June 18.
The 69-year-old was riding alongside 10 members of his family during the British Heart Foundation (BHF) event just days before his 70th birthday.
Event marshals swiftly changed the route of the annual ride-out to the seaside town, to divert other bike riders away from the tragic scene.
David's daughter, Louisa Necib, told the Mirror: "Dad was an amazing person who would do anything for anyone.
"He was a massive Chelsea Football Club fan, he loved his family and loved supporting the BHF and other charities and doing what he could for other people.
"He was just days away from his 70th birthday and we were all due to go on holiday together to celebrate. We are devastated."
David launched a GoFundMe for the British Heart Foundation before the race which has currently raised £474.
It read: "So, here we go again, and this is Definitely my last one!!
"Those that don’t know, research done by the British Heart foundation probably saved my life in 1998, when I had to have major heart surgery.
