Andrew Tate was ‘constantly trying to impress’ girls with flash cars and alcohol when he was a teenager to make up for having no friends in school, a Love Island star claimed today.

Malin Andersson first met the controversial influencer and his brother Tristan – who are both facing rape and human trafficking charges in Romania – at an under 18s night in Bedford.

The motivational speaker, 30, revealed how there was always something ‘not right’ about the pair, who she met more than once on evenings out in her youth.

Ms Andersson, who once competed in the Miss England final, told the Sun: ‘They would constantly be trying to buy us drinks and they were really strange, so very unapproachable.

‘They were very cocksure. You could tell they had arrogance although Tristan was very sweet at that time. Tristan was always the sweeter brother when he was younger. I think Andrew had quite a big influence on his brother.

A Romanian court last week extended the house arrest of Tate – who is charged with rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women – by 30 days

‘We used to hang out at these bars because they’d always go and bring a different car, a nice car. I remember a Porsche.’

Despite their bravado, the brothers, who were born in America before being brought up in a council estate in Luton, were described as being ‘geeks’ at school, with few friends.

Ms Andersson also revealed how she and her friend stopped speaking to the Tates when they were ‘rude’ dropping them home after a night out.

A Romanian court last week extended the house arrest of Tate – who is charged with rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women – by 30 days.

Tate, who has nearly seven million Twitter followers and is known for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech, was initially arrested near the capital Bucharest in late December, along with Tristan. Two Romanian women are also charged in the case.

The former professional kickboxer, 36, known to peddle conspiracy theories online to his mostly young male followers, says prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence his views.

Tate was previously banned from several prominent social media platforms for hate speech and misogynistic comments, including that women should bear responsibility for being sexually assaulted.

Several women in Britain are pursuing civil claims to obtain damages from Tate, alleging they were victims of sexual violence.

During the investigations, prosecutors ordered the confiscation of the Tate brothers’ assets, including 15 luxury cars, watches and about £2.3 million in cryptocurrency.
