Bath ‘murder’: Tributes to boy, 16, knifed to death at party that spiralled out of control – as 11 teens are arrested | The Sun

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 16-year-old boy who was knifed to death at an out-of-control party, as 11 teens have been arrested.

The family of the victim, named locally as aspiring drill rapper "Mikey" or "YM", were said to be "distraught" over the death of the "loving" boy.

Mikey was at a large gathering, reported to be a 16th birthday party, in Bath, Somerset, on Saturday night when he was stabbed to death.

Locals have said that the party was crashed by a group of 200 revellers after being advertised on social media and soon got out of hand.

A fundraising page has been set up in Mikey's memory.

On the page, the organise wrote: "As you can imagine his mum and dad are distraught their son will forever be 16

"He was so funny and fearless."

They added that the money would be used to cover funeral costs.

Donors took to the comments to add their own messages of mourning.

Another added: "My heart is torn in two watching you all go through this I love you so much."

The campaign has raised just under £1,500 so far.

The local community came together to remember the young lad, with floral tributes laid at the scene and a crowd releasing balloons in his honour.

One well-wisher left a touching card that read: "Our loved ones may leave the world but they never leave our hearts".

Cops confirmed yesterday that they had been called to the scene of the stabbing at around 11pm on June 10.

They then arrested six boys and two girls, aged between 15 and 17, on a bus half an hour later.

The arrests of another three teenage boys were then confirmed the next day.

The group were arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 35-year-old woman also suffered stab wounds but was late discharged from hospital.

A local, who did not wish to be named, said: "I could hear really loud music banging for hours, sounded like they had a DJ there.

"There were probably 200-odd kids at the house. They posted about the party on social media and that's why so many people turned up."

They described the stabbing as "shocking" and "sad".

Chief Inspector Ronald Lungu, of the Bath Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts this morning are very much with the family of the boy who has died.

“They were informed of what happened as soon as possible and are understandably devastated.

"Specialist family liaison officers will now be assigned to them to provide them with support and keep them updated.

“Officers arrived at the scene within minutes of the first call being received and an investigation into the incident is already being carried out, led by the Major Crime Investigation Team.

“We’ve identified a number of witnesses and we’ll be taking formal statements from them in due course but we’re also keen to hear from anyone who was at the address at the time who hasn’t yet spoken to police.

"The community can expect to see a significant police presence in the area today, and for the next few days, while officers and police staff carry out a number of actions including forensic examinations, a review of CCTV footage and house-to-house enquiries.

“There is currently a large cordon in place on Eastfield Avenue while we carry out these enquires and I’d like to thank those residents whose properties are impacted by this for their patience and understanding.

“I appreciate this is a concerning incident and I’d like to reassure people a thorough inquiry is taking place, however, should anyone have any questions I’d encourage them to make contact with their local neighbourhood policing team, who’ll be carrying out extra patrols in the area.”
