Grimsby Town FC faces backlash for posting video of Harvey Price saying ‘what a day’ in the aftermath of their FA Cup victory at Southampton

FA Cup heroes Grimsby Town have apologised this afternoon after being slated for using a video of Katie Price’s son Harvey in the aftermath of their underdog win.

The League Two side provided one of the competitions more memorable upsets after knocking Southampton out of the contest last night.

But after demolishing their Premier League opponents, the team’s social media team put out a Tweet featuring an short video of Harvey.

It carried the caption: ‘Signing off for the night! Enjoy your night, Town fans’ along with a video with him saying ‘what a day’.

Harvey has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, ADHD and partial blindness.

Some followers online felt it was taunting the 20-year-old, whose father is Dwight Yorke.

One said: ‘That’s Grimsby getting hammered. Taking the p*** out of disabled people after they win. What a rotten club.’

Another questioned: ‘What are you thinking with this?’

While a further joined in with: ‘This is in extremely poor taste. Will be very interesting to see what the FA says. They either truly believe in inclusiveness and championing disabilities or they tolerate making disabilities a joke.’

The tweet was deleted from Grimsby FC’s Twitter feed this morning and the vlub moved quickly to make amends.

It said in a statement: ‘It has come to our attention that an inappropriate gif was posted on the club’s official Twitter account late last night following our game against Southampton in the Emirates FA Cup.

‘The post was removed this morning as soon as we were made aware.

‘We would like to wholeheartedly apologise for any offence it has caused.’

After the big win on Wednesday night the club’s board had been delighted.

It said in a statement: ‘We are absolutely delighted to reach the Quarter Finals of this season’s Emirates FA Cup and make competition history in the process.

‘Last night’s 2-1 victory at Premier League Southampton epitomised everything which we have come to expect from Paul Hurst’s team in the last 18 months – it was a performance full of grit, determination and moments of quality which have left memories that will last a lifetime.’
