Girl, 17, is sexually assaulted in Manchester sparking huge police manhunt for suspect

Police are hunting a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Greater Manchester in the early hours this morning.

The teenager suffered a ‘serious sexual assault’ near High Street in Shaw, Oldham after 12.45am today, Greater Manchester Police said.

A vast area has now been cordoned off as members of the public described a mass police presence in the area after 7am. 

The ‘serious sexual assault’ took place by High Street, Shaw in Greater Manchester at 12.45am

The force added: ‘The girl is being supported by specialists and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.’

Anyone with relevant information has been urged to contact GMP on 0161 856 8999 or 101, quoting incident 118 of August 19.

The cordon covers part of High Street and Westway outside the Shaw Lifelong Learning Centre in the north west city suburb.
