Corrie’s Peter Barlow and Stu link ‘exposed’ by fans as they twig Navy twist

Coronation Street fans are sure they’ve unearthed a huge hidden link between Peter Barlow and Stu Carpenter in what could be a big twist in the tale.

The pair haven’t yet shared a scene on-screen, and fans think they might actually know each other already, having crossed paths at various points in their lives.

Not only have Peter and Stu both served time in prison – with Stu currently behind bars for breaching the peace and his parole conditions – but they’ve both been active members of the Navy.

Taking to Twitter to air their views, one fan penned: “Stu is ex-Navy like Peter Barlow! #Corrie.”

“Can’t believe Stu still hasn’t had a single scene with Peter when they probably served together! CBA with Corrie keeping them apart when they could be besties urgh,” a second posted.

Another fan then followed up: “I want them to be talking in the Rovers or something and realise they served together.”

Some fans even think something more sinister could be afoot, as Stu’s ex-wife shares the same name as Peter’s – Lucy.

Lucy Barlow died of breast cancer off-screen after moving to Australia – but as she was never seen again on the cobbles, could it be that she faked her death and remarried, this time to Stu?

Some fans certainly think so, and reckon Stu could be out for revenge on Peter, as one posted to social media: “If he was in the Navy could it be Peter that he is after? After all one of Peters wives (Simon’s mum) was called Lucy.”

Another agreed: “I just find it weird that Peter and Stu served in the Navy together, were in prison probs at the same time, and both have exes called Lucy… #Corrie.”

It comes as Stu star Bill Fellows has opened up on his “heartbreaking” murder storyline, explaining to press: “It is a heartbreaking storyline because there is no winner in this and there is a lot more to come, it’s not just a case of Stu fighting to clear his name.

“There are a lot of twists and turns, and it is very hurtful and heartbreaking for all involved.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
