A dramatic video shows the moment a suspected knifeman is knocked off a bike during a chaotic incident in Bishopsgate, London.

Three people were stabbed in broad daylight on one of the capital's busiest streets this morning (Thursday, October 6), leaving emergency services scrambling to take wounded victims to hospital.

A few hours after the have-a-go heroes were punished for trying to stop a phone theft, a witness uploaded footage to social media taken from the other side of the road to the horror scenes.

Suspects can be seen in the clip wearing tracksuits, balaclavas and cycling helmets as they fled the scene on electric bikes, peddling out in front of a stationary red double decker bus.

Following their escape, a group of people can be seen gathering around the injured, including one person rooted to the ground outside the recently built glass-walled tower block.

No arrests in relation to the incident had been reported by the City of London Police by 4pm, nor were any of the victims said to be fighting for their lives.

Police cordoned off the area near Liverpool Street Station, with the London Ambulance Service also at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9:52am today to reports of a stabbing in #Bishopsgate. We sent a number of resources – 3 ambulance crews, 2 adv paramedics, 2 incident response officers and our Tactical Response Unit. Our crews treated 4 patients. 3 were taken to hospital and 1 discharged."

The bloodbath is not being treated as a terror-related incident.

A delivery driver who witnessed the incident told MyLondon that four people were attacked by two people on electric bikes after they stepped in to stop a phone theft.

They said: "The attackers tried to steal someone’s phone. Then three pedestrians and one guy on a motorbike came to help and they got attacked. Police arrived in ten minutes."

A statement from the City of London Police said: “We received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 9.46am and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am.

"Three victims were taken by London Ambulance Service to a nearby hospital to be treated; they do not have life-threatening injuries.

“Two suspects are being sought as part of the ongoing investigation related to an attempted phone theft and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

“Stopping phone thefts and bringing perpetrators to justice is a priority for City of London Police. The number of phone snatches is down, due to focused effort including working with colleagues in the Metropolitan Police Service last week to make several arrests.”

A witness told MyLondon: "I saw it from a bus. There was a fair amount of blood visible but the casualties were behind a white screen. Lots of paramedics over someone on the floor. That is all I saw."
