I bought a new house and got a massive shock when I found a giant HIDDEN swimming pool | The Sun
A COUPLE who splashed out on their dream home were shocked to discover a huge pool was HIDING underneath the floorboards.
Emily Jean Henry, 28, and her husband Jeffrey, 30, fell in love with the 23-acre property in July and bought it $375,000.
The high school sweethearts had been looking for a place to settle down with two school-aged kids before stumbling across the perfect spot in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
The couple, who have been married 10 years after meeting while studying in Kansas, viewed the property before splashing their hard-earned cash when they noticed the floor had a dip in it.
During the inspection process, Emily and Jeffrey pointed out the sagging floorboards.
The couple were told that there was once a pool inside the home – but were assured it was "gone" and converted into a games room.

Excited about the prospect of creating a life together in the sprawling homestead, they decided to include redoing the floors in their renovation plans.
Emily told The Sun Online: "We were already taking out all of the flooring in the remainder of the house.
"That was the last room to go and with the sag we figured it would have to be replaced."
But it was only once the got underneath the wooden floors they discovered the pool was still very much there.

Emily said: "We thought since they said the pool was gone that they had filled it in and floored over, so we thought it would be a quick job of replacing the flooring on top.
"We were very surprised when we found it. Ripping up the floor and realizing we were standing on top of a 12ft deep hole was scary."
She recalls feeling uneasy realising they had been standing on top of the empty space with just a couple of planks of 'supporting' beams between them and the bottom of the concrete pool.
From what they know so far, the entire room is sealed off from the rest of the house and is waterproof.
There is no wall, flooring or ceiling damage, and the pool was open and used for at least 20 to 30 years.
The couple are trying to decide what to do with it, but the price is steep to get the pool back up and running.

Emily said: "We are getting quotes from contractors to get the pool and hot tub back up and running but unfortunately if the overall costs exceeds $30,000, we need to kiss that dream goodbye.
"Time, money, work and professionals will tell what this can actually be turned into but we are excited for the possibilities."
