Man charged with murder after woman, 22, hit and killed when car mounted kerb | The Sun
A 27-year-old man has been charged with murdering a young woman who died after being hit by a car.
Rebecca Steer, 22, died in hospital after being mown down when the vehicle mounted a kerb outside a takeaway in Shropshire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene outside the Grill Out on Willow Street, Oswestry, at 2.50am on Sunday but Rebecca tragically died shortly afterwards.
West Mercia Police said Stephen McHugh, 27, of Artillery Road, Oswestry, has been charged with murder, causing grievous bodily harm and driving offences.
He is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court later on Wednesday.
A 28-year-old man from Oswestry who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the family of Ms Steer said: "We are all completely devastated by the loss of our beautiful girl Rebecca.
She always had a smile and a laugh that made everybody love her.
"She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
"She was the best daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend anyone could ask for."
Rebecca was one of two pedestrians run over in the horror, with the second victim understood to be still in hospital with serious injuries.

Criminal justice student Rebecca, from the village Llanymynech, Powys, is believed to have been in her third year at university in Liverpool.
She had been at the pub with pals in her village before heading to Oswestry on Saturday night, a resident said.
The student also worked at a store in a nearby village.
Shop supervisor Sophie Owen told the Daily Mail: "Becky would do absolutely anything for anyone.
"She was the life of the party and it's beyond imaginable that she's no longer with us.

"She was absolutely stunning and had her whole life ahead of her, we are all in complete shock.
