As Buddy the Elf once said: ‘Treat every day like Christmas,’ even if it is Thanksgiving.

To the delight of two NYPD officers cruising around the Upper East Side early on Wednesday morning, a Buddy the Elf impersonator recreated one of the most iconic scenes from Will Ferrell’s 2003 Christmas classic film.

The man, dressed in a whole Buddy customer, delightedly hopped across an East 59th Street crosswalk, skipping every other white bar just like Ferrell did in the movie.

‘Late night Buddy the Elf spotting on the Upper East Side!’ the 19th Precinct’s Twitter page posted.

Deja vu? The NYC man (left) was nearly an exact replica of Will Ferrell (right) as he hip-hopped across the crosswalk just like Buddy did in the milk

The officers can be heard giving the man an encouraging ‘yes’ every time hop in the eight-second clip.

‘Bye, Buddy, we hope you find your dad!’ the NYPD quoted from the movie.

Just like New York City’s only personal Buddy the Elf, Ferrell’s character traverses the Big Apple in order to find his dad, who lives there, after leaving the North Pole.

Ferrell discussed filming the role with James Corden in 2018, saying he worried it would be a flop and fans would question: ‘Whatever happened to you? Why did you do that one about the elf?’

Luckily for Ferrell, the movie has become synonymous with Christmas in the Big Apple and was a box office hit, grossing $222 million worldwide.

The film is now considered a modern classic and definitely one both young and old can quote…and imitate.

Ferrell is back for another Christmas movie this year, starting in Apple TV+’s Spirited, alongside Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.
