This is the dramatic moment police ram a pair of car thieves off the road after a high speed chase through residential streets in Birmingham.

Dashcam footage shows the police car ram the rear wing of stolen ‘hot hatch’ Seat Leon, causing it to spin 180 degrees and become pinned against a fence.

Khye Salmon, 20, ripped through red lights and mounted pavements at 80mph in a while officers hunted him and accomplice Callum Rivers, 21.

Rivers had been arrested and bailed after a nearly identical chase just two days prior where police rammed him off the road while driving a stolen VW Up.

They broke into a string of homes and stole car keys to drive off with £250,000 worth of cars and have been jailed for a total of nine years.

The pair were eventually brought to a halt by police as a police car crashed into their stolen motor at 5am on February 20, 2020.

Rivers had been arrested just two days prior to this chase in nearly identical circumstances after police rammed him off the road after he stole a VW Up

Footage shows passenger Rivers being thrown across the back seat of the car as it span out to a stop in Church Lane, Sheldon in Birmingham.

The car thieves then tried to make a run for it, flee on foot, but officers, armed with tasers, ran after them.

One officer screamed: ‘Police! Get on the ground now. Do not [bleep] move.

‘Hands behind your back now.’

Salmon and Rivers were arrested at the scene and officers discovered the Seat had been stolen the previous day from a house in Leamington Spa, Warks.

This was the second time Rivers had been arrested by West Midlands Police in two days.

Police officers chased a VW Up which had stolen on February 17 from Fallowfields Road, Solihull, before ramming it in Admington Road, Sheldon.

Rivers, who was banned from driving, was behind the wheel and was bailed after being arrested on suspicion of burglary and car theft conspiracy.

Detectives found him and Salmon were involved in at least 17 burglaries at homes and shops dating back to September 2019.

On September 8, 2019, a Skoda Octavia and Ford Fiesta ST were stolen from a home in Haslucks Green Road, Shirley, West Mids.

Fellow thief Anthony Ferrie, 26, accompanied them to commit some of their earlier offences.

The gang targeted homes in Redditch, Stechford, Sutton Coldfield and Shirley before targeting several shops.

They smashed windows at a Spar in Hampton Lane, Solihull, at 2am on October 30 where they made off with a wheelie bin filled with cigarettes.

On November 6 they struck at One Stop in High Street, Knowle, followed by two more early morning shop raids on November 10 in Norwich Croft, Marston Green, and Alcester Road, Birmingham, where cash and scratch cards were taken.

In total they made off with vehicles valued at up to £250,000 plus thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes and takings from shops.

Police recovered DNA linking the men to the break-ins, including Ferrie’s on the Skoda’s airbag after it crashed during a chase.

A mobile phone left in the Skoda also linked Salmon and Ferrie.

Police also discovered imprints from Ferrie’s rare North Face trainers at one of the break-ins.

Rivers, of Stechford, admitted conspiracy to commit five burglaries and was convicted of dangerous driving.

He was jailed for four years and four months at Birmingham Crown Court in January.

Salmon, of Sheldon, admitted conspiracy to commit six burglaries and was also convicted of dangerous driving.

He was jailed for four years and ten months and banned from driving for 28 months when he appeared at court on June 30.

Ferrie, of Northfield, admitted his involvement in 14 break-ins and will be sentenced on July 14.

PC Mark Woodcock, one of the officers who caught up with the gang, said: ‘These are three dangerous men who thought nothing of forcing entry to people’s homes while they slept.

‘At one attempted break-in at a petrol station (Texaco, Sutton Coldfield) they threatened a taxi driver with machetes when he drove onto the forecourt.

‘During the pursuits we knew they were not going to cooperate and pull over so we had to take decisive action at the right moment to stop them before they risked causing injury to other road users or pedestrians.

‘Our officers are highly trained to perform these kinds of manoeuvres and help take offenders off our streets.’
