A NUDIST dubbed The Naked Carpenter is facing trial for allegedly stabbing a police officer in the head with scissors.

Robert Jenner is accused of attempting to murder PC Sean Quinn at his home in Maidstone, Kent.

The 48-year-old appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today via video-link from Belmarsh Prison.

He pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder with a provisional trial date set for November 20.

Ex-soldier Jenner was given his nickname for carrying out DIY and odd jobs in the nude.

He was arrested after the alleged incident at his home in June 15.

PC Quinn, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance and later discharged.

The officer has not yet returned to duty following the horror.

At the time of his arrest, Kent Police Deputy Chief Constable, Peter Ayling said: "This horrific assault shows us once again that policing can, at times, be dangerous and unpredictable.

"In Kent Police any assault on a police officer going about their duty is entirely unacceptable and will be met with the full force of pursuit and investigation.
