More woe for commuters as passengers are evacuated from Tottenham Court Road and Northern Line suspended amid reports of a fire

  • Firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from a rail at the station 
  • London Fire Brigade arrived at 8.50am and crews are currently investigating 
  • Crews from Soho and Euston stations are there, including three fire engines

Passengers have been evacuated from Tottenham Court Road and the Northern Line is part suspended amid reports of a fire.

Firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from a rail at the Underground station on Oxford Street in London.

The London Fire Brigade arrived at 8.50am and crews are currently investigating the fire alert.

Fire crews from Soho and Euston fire stations are at the scene, including three fire engines.

Transport for London (TFL) wrote: ‘No service Battersea Power Station to Camden Town via Charing Cross northbound only while we respond to a fire alert at Tottenham Court Road.

‘SEVERE DELAYS on the rest of the line. London Underground tickets will be accepted on local bus services.’
