  • A Michigan State cruiser crashed into a stolen SUV during a high-speed chase
  • The SUV was occupied by teens, who were being chased by other troopers

Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment a Michigan State Police cruiser slammed into a stolen SUV that crossed into its path during a high-speed chase.

State police were responding to a call to join in the chase of the stolen vehicle when it pulled out in front of them and collided with their cruiser, injuring two MSP troopers and two teenagers in the car.

One of the troopers was knocked unconscious and became trapped in the car, which caught fire. Similarly, of the two teens in the car, one was ‘ejected’ while the other also became trapped.

The two troopers and the two suspects in the stolen vehicle, said to be ‘juveniles’, were all taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The MSP troopers have since been discharged from the hospital, WZZM13 reported, but no update was given as to the condition of the two suspects in the stolen SUV.

The incident happened on June 15 when another MSP vehicle was chasing the stolen car as it approached the intersection of Peck and E. Holbrook in Muskegon, by Michigan Lake.

The second MSP cruiser involved in the crash was speeding towards the chase to assist in intercepting the SUV when it pulled out in front of the cruiser, causing the crash.

‘Initial dispatch info stated cruiser struck and an officer unconscious. While en route, dispatch advised two vehicles involved, one cruiser with two officers injured – one trapped – and the cruiser on fire as well as a civilian vehicle into a building with one ejected and one trapped,’ Muskegon Fire Department said in a statement after the crash.

‘This is a situation that we never want to deal with, especially when we’re dealing with other individuals. We never want to see this happen,’ Lieutenant Robinson told WZZM13.

‘And so our thoughts go out to the troopers, their families, the families of the individuals that were in the other vehicle… it’s a senseless thing that happens.’

MSP said Fifth District Investigative Response Team is assisting in an ongoing investigation.
