Police hunt for Brixton killer after woman in her 30s is stabbed to death in broad daylight near O2 Academy

  • Woman, believed to be in her 30s, was stabbed on Stockwell Park Walk in Brixton

Police have launched a manhunt for a suspected killer after a woman was stabbed to death today in broad daylight near the O2 Academy in south London.

Met Police were called to Stockwell Park Walk in Brixton around 4.04pm to reports of a stabbing.

Officers, paramedics and an air ambulance attended, but the woman – believed to be in her 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

A member of the victim’s family said the situation is ‘still so raw.’ The family, who were notified of the woman’s death, are currently being supported by specialist officers.

A number of roads are currently closed as officers continue to work at the scene. Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing and police have urged any witnesses to come forward.

Metropolitan Police officers have cordoned off Stockwell Park Walk in Lambeth with a blue tent erected following the death of a woman in her 30s.

Residents are currently forced to walk around the cordon, with forensic teams and officers remaining inside the cordon just off Brixton Road.

The victim’s family and friends have gathered outside the cordon, next to a block of flats, while officers continue their inquiries.

A family member said: ‘It’s still so raw. Family are on their way here now and we still need to tell them what’s happened. It’s just so raw.’

Natasha Jordan, who works at Live True London on Brixton Road, said: ‘There were loads of police cars and ambulances that came.

‘Loads of police were walking up and down the road because there’s a police station right near here.

‘No-one actually came in and said anything though, and I’ve been in here all day.’

Traffic is being diverted around the cordon, with people asked to avoid the area while the cordon remains in place.
