Shocking moment have-a-go-heroes tackle phone robbers for two minutes with no cops in sight before one pulls knife | The Sun

THIS is the shocking moment brave have-a-go heroes tackled masked knifemen for two minutes in a bloody robbery in the City of London.

The group can be seen attempting to stop the thugs after they swiped a phone in Bishopsgate yesterday morning.

One of the brave good Samaritans yanks a robber from his bike and grapples with him before other members of the publish rush over.

As the trapped thief lashes out at the group, an older-looking woman steps in to help and gives him a shove.

She can be seen holding her arm as though she has been slashed at.

The yob then attempts to cycle away – but a moped rider in a crash helmet shoves into him and the brawl continues.

Three of the victims have been taken to hospital for treatment but officers confirmed their injuries are not life-threatening.

The brawl broke out when two men on electric bikes attempted to steal a phone.

They then began at slashing at the victims as they tried to stop the robbers.

The two masked thugs fled the scene with police understood to still be hunting both of them.

Witness Caitlin Black, who works at TalkTV, told The Sun: "I was walking to work and I heard a guy shouting out 'oi' and saw someone running towards him and then it just escalated.

"Someone was slashed in the face and one of the robbers stabbed another guy in the arm. I was on the phone to the police and ambulance at the time and trying to wave down police officers.

"It just escalated very quickly. It went from a phone being stolen to three guys getting stabbed.

"I saw blood and the robbers going into people but it wasn't like there was a massive machete or anything. They were punching people at first but the more people that got involved, the more they lashed out.

"The guys who helped were heroes. All these people walking to work just ran over to help a stranger.

"It's a commuter area and right by a police station – everyone feels safe there and is usually on the phone.

"I actually walked with the man whose phone was stolen after and he was saying it was just a normal Samsung the robbers would probably only get £50 for. It's really shocking."

City of London Police said the bloodbath is not being treated as terror-related.

Chief Superintendent Steve Heatley, from the City of London Police, said: “We received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 9.46am and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am.
