Two injured after Boulder police officer hits car en route to call

Two people were taken to the hospital after a Boulder police officer responding to a call in his patrol vehicle collided with another car.

Boulder police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said the officer was responding to a call at 11:40 a.m. Monday with his lights and sirens on when he collided with a Volkswagen Golf in the intersection of Canyon Boulevard and Folsom Street.

The drive of the Volkswagen, a 54-year-old woman, was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The extent of her injuries is not yet known.

The officer was transported by patrol car to a hospital with minor injuries.

More specifics on the crash were not immediately available.

Waugh said the officer was responding to a disturbance on Pearl Street, including a report that a naked man had climbed onto a garbage truck.

Boulder residents should avoid the intersection, as the investigation may slow down traffic in the area this afternoon.

Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call Boulder police Traffic Officer Clark at 720-290-2970.
