Tyson Foods recalls 94,000 pounds of ground beef for possible hard, mirror-like material
Texas shoppers need to check their freezers. That’s because Tyson Foods is recalling nearly 94,000 pounds of ground beef because it may be contaminated with foreign matter, specifically hard mirror-like material.
The recall involves ground beef produced November 2 at the Tyson Foods facility in Amarillo, Texas, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Products recalled include 5-pound and 10-pound packages of Hill Country Fare 73% Lean/27% Fat ground beef and 5-pound packages of H-E-B 80% Lean/20% Fat ground chuck.
The product was sent to these retailers in Texas: H-E-B, Joe V’s, Mi Tienda, and Central Market stores.
Tyson Foods notified the USDA it had received consumer complaints about finding “mirror-like” material in ground beef products purchased from grocery stores. As of Thursday, there have been no reports of injury due to products impacted by this recall, the company said.
