Weather forecast today: 'Severe' warning as thunderstorms and heavy rain to hit Britain after 23C sun, Met Office warns | The Sun

BRITS have been warned of 'severe' thunderstorms across the Bank Holiday Monday as heavy rain is set to drench the UK.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as rumbles of thunder and hail are forecast to wreak havoc tomorrow.

For the most part, outbreaks of rain, showers and brisk winds will be felt across the majority of the UK in the morning – although areas in the south east should remain fairly dry.

But by midday, the band of stormy weather will move east and most people are forecast a drizzly afternoon.

Thunderstorms and possible hail are expected cause disruption in Northern Ireland and south western Scotland.

Meteorologists issued the yellow weather warning to those in Northern Ireland, and said they could expect: "Some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.

"Short term loss of power and other services is likely," added a Met Office spokesperson.

Temperatures are forecast to be lower as a result of more cloud and the rain compared to the glorious weather felt today.

But on the bight side, pollen levels are also due to be lower due to the drizzly weather.

Monday evening will see more heavy rain pushing eastward across parts of England and Wales but showers across the north of the UK are forecast to fade.

Tuesday morning will see some outbreaks of rain in certain areas mixed with clear spells and temperatures staying fairly mild.

This comes after Brits were soaked while taking part in King Charles coronation activities yesterday.

The soggy and grey conditions didn’t put off thousands of well-wishers as they lined the streets of London for the big day.

But street parties taking place up and down the country today to mark the historic event got to enjoy a sunnier and warmer day.

Most parts of the country remained dry with sunny spells and temperatures reached highs of 23C.
