American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer committed crimes such as rape, murder and dismemberment of over a dozen men and boys between 1978 and 1991, including Konerak Sinthasomphone.

Who was Konerak Sinthasomphone?

Konerak Sinthasomphone was a 14-year-old boy who grew up in Wisconsin.

He was born to a family that immigrated to the United States from Laos.

According to TheCinemaholic, Konerak's family faced quite a lot of financial challenges, which is why he and his brother, Somsack, both tried their best to help their family.

What happened to Konerak Sinthasomphone?

Konerak was brutally murdered on May 27, 1991, by Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer and repeat sex offender.

Dahmer had lured Konerak to his apartment for a few drinks by offering to pay him money in exchange for photographs.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the teen was naked, bruised, bleeding and heavily under the influence of drugs when he managed to escape from Dahmer's apartment.

Netflix's newest documentary, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, chronicles how the serial killer even went as far as drilling a hole into the victim’s skull which he filled with hydrochloric acid.

After Konerak's escape, Sandra Smith, Tina Spivey and Nicole Childress discovered the teen and called police.

John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish responded to the call, but ultimately handed Konerak back to Dahmer after being convinced he was his 19-year-old lover, according to court docs.

″At the time, with the information we had—to this day, I think we did the appropriate thing, the best that we could,″ Balcerzak said in an interview after Jeffrey's arrest, per AP News.

Was Konerak's brother Somsack also abused by Jeffrey Dahmer?

Incidentally, Dahmer had come across Konerak's brother, Somsack, in September 1988.

Law officials found out that Somsack was only 13 when he was similarly persuaded into Dahmer's apartment for money in exchange for nude pictures.

The teen was reportedly drugged and sexually abused but managed to escape.

Dahmer was arrested on September 27, 1988, and pleaded guilty in January the following year to second-degree sexual assault.

According to TheCinemaholic, he was "sentenced to one year in prison with work release and five years of probation in May of the same year."
