Cara Delevingne Defends Herself After Shutting Down Martin Brundle at British Grand Prix

After receiving backlash for refusing to have a grid chat with the Formula 1 legend at the British Grand Prix, the model/actress takes to Twitter to share her side of the story.

AceShowbizCara Delevingne has broken her silence following an awkward moment with Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle at the British Grand Prix on Sunday, July 9. After receiving backlash for refusing to be interviewed by the Formula 1 legend, the model/actress takes to Twitter to share her side of the story.

Following the event, Cara responded to a fan defending her in a tweet which read, “At this point, Martin Brundle is just doing it to manufacture the moment for the controversy of it all. You can clearly see the PR rep tell him ‘no’ and shake his head when he goes up towards Cara Delevingne. He had an out and he chose not to take it to make a statement.”

Thanking the fan, the “Suicide Squad” star wrote, “I was told to say no so I did. Thank you for seeing both sides xxx.” In a separate tweet, the “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” actress shared that despite the drama, she “had so much fun today.” She went on to note that she “was so happy to be there no matter what anyone else may think x.”

Cara Delevingne spoke out after snubbing Martin Brundle at British Grand Prix.

In a viral video, Martin could be seen trying to get Cara on his eccentric grid walk interviews, in which he speaks to drivers, team principals and VIPs just before the start of a Grand Prix, for ITV, the BBC and Sky Sports. After being told by the supermodel’s team that she didn’t want to do the interview, the 64-year-old former racer said, “She doesn’t want to talk? But everybody needs to talk on the grid? That’s the deal now. Everybody talks on the grid.”

The rejection apparently didn’t stop the veteran F1 commentator from approaching Cara. He asked the 30-year-old star to have “a quick chat,” before she simply said, “No.” Martin, however, kept on insisting, prompting Cara to politely tell him that she couldn’t hear him.

Martin did turn away after that, but not before he delivered a brutal burn against Cara. “Ok… I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting,” he sarcastically muttered.

Some fans were loving his reaction with one tweeting, “Absolute BRUTALITY from Martin Brundle at #SilverStoneGP.” Another user wrote, “Martin Brundle is just savage.” Criticizing Cara, one other said, “@caradelevingne not cool and a tad embarrassing. Well handled by Martin Brundle though.”

“Once again astounds me that these people can get on the grid and are so rude to Martin Brundle and haven’t done their homework on who he is. Entitled. Cara Delevingne can get in the bin,” someone else added, echoing the sentiment.

Another said, “If you are going to be on the @F1 grid, it is expected for you to speak! Especially to Sky Sports and Martin Brundle and especially at Silverstone! @Caradelevingne you are not special and definitely owe Martin an apology.”
