Corrie's Sue Cleaver looks 'unrecognisable' as she makes ITV cameo

Coronation Street fans are shocked by Sue Cleaver’s ‘unrecognisable’ transformation as she returns to the ITV soap for a cameo

Coronation Street fans did a double take as Sue Cleaver returned to the ITV soap for a cameo appearance on Monday night.

The I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star, 59, was branded ‘unrecognisable’ by viewers as she returned to the soap as her character Eileen Grimshaw.

Shocked fans rushed to Twitter to gush over how different Sue looked as she sported a new shorter hair do.

Viewers also applauded Sue for her incredible weight loss as she left them distracted by her transformation.

One wrote: ‘What’s happened to Eileen, I didn’t recognise her. She looks really good’.

A second penned: ‘Did our Eileen stay in the jungle longer than anyone else ??’

‘What’s happened to Eileen and Audrey they look like they need a good meal’, added a third.

‘@itvcorrie can someone tell me where the other half of Eileen has gone?, another said.

A shocked fifth fan added: ‘I can’t get over Eileen’s new look.’

Another gushed: ‘OMG what has happened to Eileen (@Sue_Cleaver) she looks fantastic, loving the new hair style.’

‘Omg Eileen looks very different with her short hair’, wrote another.

A seventh said: ‘Crikey I didn’t recognise Eileen for a second there!’

Sue has previously been open about her dramatic weight loss and back in February insisted she is ‘not obsessed with diets’ as she reflected on the unfair expectations placed on women.

The actress displayed her slimmed-down figure on the March issue of Prima as she declared she would never promote any weight-related products as women have ‘enough difficulties as it is’.

On not being embroiled in diet culture she told the publication: ‘I lost some weight in the jungle, but I’m not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough!

‘There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it.

‘That’s why I’ll never promote anything weight-related, and it’s why I’d always rather compliment somebody on their smile or their outfit, rather than their weight.’

She continued: ‘Let’s just let women be women – we have enough difficulties and struggles as it is.’

During the chat she also opened up about her stage of life as she nears her 60th birthday.

She said: ‘My 50s have been the happiest decade of my life. I’m happy with me and where I am, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.

‘Then again, if it doesn’t bring anything, I’m just going to have to make something happen myself.

‘Since doing I’m A Celeb, my eyes have been opened to all these new experiences. Now, I’m just thinking, “Right, what’s my next challenge?”‘
