Judi Loves Love Island verdict: It was getting predictable – but I’m here for drama

Loose Women star and OK! columnist Judi Love has issued her thoughts on the brand new series of Love Island, praising ITV for including a shake-up to the show and predicting further messiness.

Writing in her weekly column, the stand-up comedian also reflected on her recent Barbadian birthday extravaganza, offers her support to musician Lewis Capaldi following the cancellation of his tour, offers her condolences to the family of US TV star Jackie O who passed away last week, and congratulates rapper Burna Boy for making history.

Bring on the chaos!

Love Island was back with a bang last week!

It was great to see ITV mixing it up by welcoming the boys and girls into the villa at the same time and letting viewers decide who should couple up, which hasn’t been done before.

Some people have said the show was becoming predictable, so I hope they continue to shake things up with new plot twists, challenges and bombshells, because I am here for the drama and the messiness!

What an incredible day

I celebrated my birthday last week and what an incredible day it was!

Following a lovely holiday in Barbados during the build-up, I returned home for the big day to see my two beautiful babies, who spoiled me rotten!

My daughter bought me a gorgeous pair of shoes and my son gave me a stunning bouquet of flowers.

I felt so blessed to have my family around me, and received so many lovely messages from my nearest and dearest friends wishing me joy and good health.

Wellbeing comes first

Last week, Lewis Capaldi apologised to fans for cancelling his next few gigs due to the toll touring has taken on him “mentally and physically”.

I really do understand the need to take time off because of the impact the industry can have on wellbeing.

I take regular breaks from social media because, as well as the negative comments, it’s difficult to keep up a relationship with fans by updating pages regularly.

I support everyone’s right to protect their mental health and make themselves a priority.

A tragic loss

It was heartbreaking to hear that American comedy game-show star Jacky Oh – wife of YouTube favourite DC Young Fly and mother of his three children – passed away at the age of 32.

There has been speculation she died from complications arising from cosmetic surgery, but I just hope her family are receiving the comfort they need following this shocking news.

Sell-out star

I’d like to wish a huge congratulations to Burna Boy for making history by being the first African artist to sell out London Stadium for a gig last week, welcoming 60,000 fans.

I was lucky enough to see him perform at Wembley Arena in 2019, where he was also the first Afrobeats star to sell out, so to hear he’s set another record is incredible.

I can’t wait to see what else he surprises us with in the future.
