Loose Women’s Denise Welch takes break from show

Loose Women's Denise Welch announced in a video that she was going on a “temporary little holiday” away from the show and away from her phone.

Without giving too much away, the Loose Women star posted the video to her Instagram where she is talking to her followers on her 65th birthday and said she will be going on a “little adventure” for a few weeks.

The panellist said:“ On this day my 65th birthday, I want to thank you in advance for all of the lovely messages and lovely comments that I’ve received.

“I’m going off on a little adventure for a couple of weeks so I’m going to be off here and off my phone.

“I don’t quite know how I am going to cope but I’m going to give it a try so don’t think I have disappeared it’s just a temporary little holiday and I will be back soon.”

Fans rushed to wish Denise a Happy Birthday and to send their well wishes on her break from the show.

One fan wrote: “You are not 65! Seriously? Well you just bowled me over with a satsuma! You look incredible! Have a snogalicous birthday and downtime from social media ~ enjoy”, while another said: “Happy birthday my friend! Enjoy your holiday! We’ll talk when you’re back!”

A third wrote: “Happy birthday have the most amazing time I reckon you earned it.”

Fellow Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford wrote: “Happy Birthday Den….enjoy your adventure!!”

In an exclusive interview with OK! to celebrate the stars 65th birthday, Denise revealed that she would be going away to Dubai with her husband to celebrate.

It’s a milestone that means so much to Denise and as she chatted to us, she quickly became emotional as she reflected on the past 10 years.

“This decade has been one of the happiest in my life for two reasons,” she tells us. “One is that I met my husband and I have an incredibly happy marriage that I love and I nurture. And two because I got sober.

“My life was a mess for many parts of a decade and more before. Not all the time, but I was dealing with an addiction which impacted my family and myself.”

Speaking about her appreciation of Loose Women – the show on which she’s been one of the most loved and outspoken panellists on and off for nearly two decades – hasn’t dimmed and she wants to continue.

“It’s great for me – it fits into my lifestyle, I love the girls,” she says. “I know that every single day I seem to be ‘in a feud’, but I’ve never had a fall out in 20 years with any of the women on that show. I’ve never had an argument with any of them. Yes, we’ve had arguments on the set – that’s part of the show. Put it this way, I’m a woman’s woman. So, believe you me, I’d be out like a shot, and if Loose Women was b****y backstage, I wouldn’t be there.”
