Love Island’s Paige Thorne is supporting Gemma Owen through Luca Bish split

Paige Thorne is supporting her Love Island star pal Gemma Owen following her split from Luca Bish, telling OK! that going through a public break-up is "difficult".

Paige, 25, who split from Adam Collard in October just weeks after leaving the Majorcan villa, has revealed she contacted Gemma to show her support.

“I texted Gem to make sure she was all good, just showing her my support and letting her know that I was always there if she ever needed to chat,” she told us.

“Obviously, coming out of the relationship in the public eye is difficult enough anyway, so she knows I’m there if she needs me and she’ll reach out.”

Gemma, 19, and Luca, 23, announced their break-up last month, admitting it “wasn’t an easy decision” but it was “best for us both”.

In an Instagram statement, Gemma wrote: "To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now.

"Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters."

Luca later said: "Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages about my breakup."

He continued: ""As you all already know, sadly, Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.

"We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories… we will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her."

Meanwhile, Paige has been through her own public split after calling it quits with Adam. It came after a number of videos emerged of Adam, 27, cosying up to other women on a night out – but he denies claims of cheating.

Paige has now told us she’s well and truly moving on, saying: “There is no bad blood from my end. Everything happens for a reason and I’m in a good place now.”

Paige, who was speaking to us at Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham, also revealed how her life has changed dramatically since Love Island.

The star has returned to her day job as a paramedic, and is supporting Age UK this Christmas to help vulnerable and lonely older people.

She said: "Being a paramedic, you really do see the social concerns with older people.

"A lot of 999 calls will come in and it’s not because they’re in need of 999 assistance, but because they are lonely and have no family or friends to rely on.

"You see it so much in the community and it is really sad. It’s so isolating, especially if they can’t work the internet or social media.

"So it’s amazing that a charity like Age UK are providing activities and days out and a place where they can come and interact and make new friends and keep themselves busy. I hate the thought of anyone being alone."

Paige is supporting Age UK this Christmas. The Charity is there for the older people who have nobody to talk to and nobody to ask for help. Age UK believes that no older person should live like this and asking everybody who can to donate so that it can continue to be there for vulnerable and lonely older people.
