Pictures emerge of Kady McDermott on holiday with 'secret boyfriend'

EXCLUSIVE: Kady McDermott is pictured with ‘secret’ boyfriend as it emerges he faces five years in jail for money laundering as Love Island producers wrestle claims star is STILL with him despite her return to show

Love Island star Kady McDermott’s boyfriend whisked her away on a luxury holiday to the Maldives while he was under investigation by the police for money laundering, MailOnline can reveal.

Liam Greer, 30, admitted laundering £359,000 at Harrow Crown Court in April this year and is due to be sentenced next month. He faces a possible jail term of up to five years.

Father-of-three Greer was arrested by cops on suspicion of money laundering on February 16, 2022 a MailOnline report has established.

The following month, while under investigation by cops, he jetted Kady, 27, to the Maldives for a five-star holiday.

Photographs exclusively obtained by MailOnline show the loved-up pair sunbathing during their romantic break at the £1500-a-night Ayada Maldives. They are snapped sharing a sun lounger and sipping cocktails and coconuts.

Kady returned to Love Island this year after first finding fame on the series in 2016 and has reportedly faced a ‘showdown’ with bosses over still being in a relationship with Liam

But just six months after they returned to the UK, on September 9, 2022, Greer was charged with money laundering.

And on April 20 this year at Harrow Crown Court, he admitted the offence and is due to be sentenced on August 18.

Two days before Greer’s arrest in February last year, he treated Kady on Valentine’s Day to a date at London’s exclusive Bvlgari Hotel. Later, in September last year, the couple were pictured holidaying in Ibiza.

During the police investigation into Greer’s crimes, cops found more than £300,000 had been sent to his bank account within a seven-day period from different people who specialist detectives are still trying to trace.

Cops believe he was living at Kady’s renovated Hertfordshire bungalow and searched it as part of their investigation.

Kady’s neighbours said they often saw her and Greer heading off to a local gym and supermarket together in the weeks leading up to her appearance on Love Island at the end of last month. They also saw the pair walking her dog, Koby.

Greer runs an electric bike company which police believe to be unconnected to the alleged money-laundering ring.

He was already ordered to forfeit £21,938.02 of the cash – held in a frozen bank account in his name – during a previous hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on March 3, 2022.

Their idyllic getaway to the Maldives came just a month after Liam was arrested on suspicion of money laundering, which he later admitted 

Kady’s long-term romance with Liam may explain her refusal to become seriously involved with any potential suitors on the current series of Love Island 

She is currently coupled up with Ouzy See but the star has been reserved in her approach to dating, even refusing to snog her co-stars during a kissing challenge

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘A police investigation by specialist officers has resulted in a man pleading guilty to laundering over £300,000.

‘Liam Greer, 30, from Watford, Herts pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Harrow Crown Court to laundering £359,700.

‘The conviction follows an investigation by officers from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime.’

The pair are said to still be in a relationship despite Kady’s return to Love Island as a supposedly-single contestant looking for romance.

Her long-term romance with Greer may explain her refusal to become seriously involved with any potential suitors on the show.

It has been claimed that Kady, who found fame after first appearing on the programme in 2016, has been involved in a backstage showdown with ITV2 producers over her reluctance to ‘crack on.’ 

Fans quickly became suspicious of her unwillingness to find love even though she had been coupled on the show with hunky Zachariah Noble, 25.

In an attempt to dispel speculation and remain on the series, Kady is now paired with Scottish footballer Ouzy See, 28, but they are yet to passionately kiss.

They have been getting to know each other the past week but Kady has still maintained her distance.

She previously dated TOWIE’s Myles Barnett, 29, for three years and bought her Hertfordshire home with him before splitting in 2021.

She went on to briefly date Premier League footballer Matty Cash, 25, who plays right-back for Aston Villa.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Kady was single at the time of entering the villa.’
