Like most things, baby names change all the time – and a few are set to become popular in 2023.

Social media, celebrities, films and TV shows play huge roles in inspiring baby names for new or soon-to-be parents.

The language experts analysed name registries, ONS data and search volume trends to predict which pop culture moments and characters will influence this year’s new parents’ decisions.

Many trends, from fashion to homeware and beauty, all stem from celebrity influencers.

And of course, baby names are no different.

Preply analysed ONS data to show after Kimye's second child Saint was born in December 2015, the popularity of the name increased by 1180%.

Of course, this means that expectant parents are always keen to see what the next popular name is.

Kylie Jenner and sister Khloe Kardashian both welcomed their sons in 2022.

After the birth of Kylie’s firstborn in 2018, the name “Stormi” became 47 times more popular in a five-year period.

It is likely that "Aire" may see the same trend boom in the months to follow.

It is no doubt that the names given to the youngest members of the famous family will have a massive impact on the names chosen for newborn babies.

What other names are predicted to be popular in 2023?

World Cup winners

The name "Lionel" has seen a huge increase in the past for being the same as the successful Argentinian player, Lionel Messi.

But it seems like its popularity is not reaching a peak.

According to data from the Civil Registry for the Province of Santa Fe, the registration of the name Lionel or Lionela increased by 700%.

One in every 70 babies with the December registration was called one of those two names.

Wednesday boom

The name Wednesday has been taking off.

When the Netflix hit was released at the end of 2022, many people started looking at the unusual character for inspiration.

Well, it turns out Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and partner Georgia Groom were ahead of the game, calling their daughter Wednesday back in 2020.

Rupert even jokes that they were released to be ahead of the game with the name, which has already seen an increase in popularity, and predicted a "Wednesday boom".

Booktok boosts Atlas, Evelyn and Celia

It Ends with Us and the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo are two books that topped the charts and came highly recommended for book lovers.

Both books are in the process of being adapted for the screen, which is likely to cause a boost in the popularity of their lead character names.

Evelyn and Celia are two more traditional yet stylish names, whereas Atlas is definitely a more modern name that can be used for both baby boys and girls.

Bridgerton inspired babies

From "Regency-core" to blusher trends, there isn't much that the popular Netflix hit hasn't inspired.

Penelope takes on the lead role in the highly anticipated season three, while Queen Charlotte takes on the focus of the 2023 spin-off prequel.

These two classic names are bound to inspire new parents across the world as everyone gets ready to binge the series.

The Ginny and Georgia Effect

Season 2 of Netflix's Ginny and Georgia has dominated the Top 10 since its early January launch and has brought on a whole new fanbase in the process.

The lead family in all have names inspired by their home states, Georgia, Virginia and Austin.

Not only have these names become increasingly popular, but are inspiring a whole load of geographical names for 2023 babies.

That '90s Show

Leia, the lead character in the long-awaited reboot of That '70s show obviously takes her name inspiration from another popular movie character.

All eyes are on this show as fans are excited to revel in the nostalgia of the iconic series.

Real-life couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher reprise their original roles of Jackie and Kelso, which may see an uptake in these not-so-common names for youngsters.
