I want more piercings but I fear it will ruin my chances of getting a job | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I WOULD love to get loads of facial and body piercings, but I’m worried they will stop me from getting a job.

To me, they look really cool and creative. I care a lot about my appearance, and piercings would help me express myself.

I’m a 23-year-old guy, and ideally, I’d like to have my eyebrow, tongue and nose pierced, as well as my nipples.

I already have several ear piercings. However, I’m now looking for professional jobs, and I know some employers frown on visible piercings.

If I do get pierced, I also want to make sure I go somewhere safe. I don’t trust the hygiene in my local studios.

But if I were to take the plunge, would I be limiting my opportunities?

DEIDRE SAYS:  Some employers do discriminate, and for certain jobs visible piercings would close most options.

Perhaps it’s wise to stick with piercings you can easily remove, like a nose piercing.

As for where to go, it’s wise to be cautious.

Always take time to research the studio, talk to the piercer and ask to look around to ensure you are comfortable with their standards.

Check the studio has been registered with the local authority and has any relevant licences.

There is always a risk of infection, especially with tongue piercings.
