People only realising speed camera sign doesn’t depict old-fashioned lenses

There's so many road signs drivers must be aware of.

Some warn motorists of tighter roads, while others can reveal if there's any works going on.

Another common road sign is to alert Brits of an upcoming speed camera.

Now people are only just realising what the popular sign actually means.

A Twitter user set the record straight and pointed out it doesn't actually depict the side of an old-fashioned camera.

In fact, according to @FeyeraBender it's actually a modern speed camera with two lenses pointing at you.

The user wrote: "For years I thought the UK speed camera depicted a Victoria bellows camera pointing to the right, but it's a boring CCTV camera pointing towards the viewer."

One thought they had been "living a lie", while another hated the change as the sign was "so mean looking at me suddenly".

Others claimed they were "simply not having this" and refused to see the sign as anything other than what most assumed it was.

However, one person pointed out the old-fashioned design is correct, as "everyone knows exactly what it represents".

According to the Highway Code, the sign is "a black camera symbol which appears on a white background on sections of road covered by speed cameras and average speed cameras".

One new rule could see electric car owners hit with fines if they leave their vehicles at charging points for too long.

Another involves car tax changes as new rates have been released in April.
