Amber Heard Breaks Social Media Silence After Red Carpet Return
The ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ actress thanks fans for ‘an unforgettable weekend’ in Italy where she promotes her latest film ‘In the Fire’ at the Taormina Film Festival.
AceShowbiz –Amber Heard has broken her social media silence, one year after her contentious defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. The actress has returned to Instagram and Twitter following her first official public appearance in months.
The 37-year-old recently attended the Taormina Film Festival in Italy to promote her latest film “In the Fire“. On Friday, June 30, she posted a picture of her smiling at the event and thanked fans for their “warm reception.”
“Thank you for such an incredibly warm reception at the Taormina Film festival for my latest movie In the Fire,” she wrote in the caption of the snap. She added of her visit to Italy, “It was an unforgettable weekend. #InTheFire.”
Amber’s co-star Luca Calvani commented on her Instagram post, “Yes. There she is,” as many others were also happy to have her back on the platform. “THERES OUR GIRL!!” another reacted, while someone else wrote, “miss that smile.”
On Saturday, Amber followed up the initial post with a picture of her being swarmed by fans and photographers in Italy. “What a reception… Thank you to all of my fans and supporters. I am so touched,” she remarked.
The posts marked Amber’s first on Instagram since December 2022. Following the end of the defamation trial in June last year, she has been laying low in Madrid, Spain, which she allegedly calls her second home.
When returning to the spotlight at the film festival in Italy, Amber refused to address her high-profile legal battle with her ex-husband. “I’m in control for the most part of what comes out of my mouth. What I’m not in control of is how my pride in this project and all we put into this film can be surrounded by clips of other stuff,” she told Deadline in an interview. “That’s a big thing I had to learn, that I’m not in control of stories other people create around me. That’s something that probably I’ll appreciate as a blessing further down the line.”
She continued, “Right now, I just kind of want to not have, you know, stones thrown at me so much. So let’s get the elephant out of the room then, and just let me say that. I am an actress. I’m here to support a movie. And that’s not something I can be sued for.”
Sharing her belief that her career won’t be tarnished by her the trials and tribulations of her personal life, the “Justice League” star added, “I think I’ve earned respect for that to be its own thing. That’s substantial enough. What I have been through, what I’ve lived through, doesn’t make my career at all. And it’s certainly not gonna stop my career. So let’s talk about this movie.”
