Amelia faces losing Dan forever as he gets terrible news in Emmerdale

A flash of anger has had devastating consequences in Emmerdale, leaving Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) facing what could be many years in prison.

After creepy character Lloyd (Matt Sutton) showed up in the salon, Amelia (Daisy Campbell) realised that the person she’d been talking to on social media in the belief that it was another young mum was actually Lloyd. She was shocked and frightened by the visit, although Mandy (Lisa Riley) arrived back at the salon and quickly threw Lloyd out.

On hearing about this, Dan was naturally furious and worried for his daughter. He paid a visit to Lloyd’s shop to warn him off and later left a message on his phone saying he’d kill him if he went near Amelia again.

Lloyd then turned up at the church while Amelia was there alone. He tried to come across as reasonable and apologised for frightening her. While Amelia seemed to believe him, Dan saw red when he saw the two of them leaving the church and hugging and he stormed over.

Lloyd goaded him during the confrontation, and Dan unleashed one single, powerful punch at him, knocking him to the ground where he hit his head on a rock. It was immediately obvious he had serious injuries as he had a seizure while everyone was waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

In Monday (July 10)’s episode the police took Dan in for questioning again, and things were not looking good for him. Lloyd’s wife Julie had reported the fact that he’d come to the hospital to see her husband and had been accusing him of harassing Amelia.

Liam Fox told us that Dan realises he’s in massive trouble.

‘He’s been to the hospital and he’s had a row with the wife in the hospital and when he’s in there he basically says that he did it because he had to to protect himself and he’d do it again. So it’s that he’s kind of made a threat, which isn’t clever,’ he explained.

‘She’s got him on everything,’ he said of DS Giles (Orla Cottingham) who questions him. ‘Everything he’s said, everything that’s happened originally with Lloyd, the threats that Dan’s made to Lloyd and going to the hospital talking to Lloyd’s wife. He feels trapped. It’s not looking good.’

In tense scenes DS Giles left the room, and Dan wondered why his solicitor and the police officer in the room were looking grave. He soon realised why when the DS returned and told him she’d been on the phone to the CPS who’d agreed that she had grounds to charge Dan with GBH.

He was released on bail and returned to the village, where he couldn’t bring himself to tell Amelia that he’d been charged and tried to make light of it.

Cain had some good advice for him. ‘You need to stay away from the hospital, stay away from his wife and stick to your story,’ he said. But Dan is not at all the same kind of man as cain Dingle and he was completely overwhelmed, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to keep up his story that he hit Lloyd in self defence.

Cain told him the police were just doing their job – trying to secure a conviction – and he had to do his. ‘Pull yourself together, man,’ he insisted. ‘For your daughter’s sake.’

Will Dan be able to stay strong for Amelia and Esther? And even if he does, will it be enough? Or could he be looking at a very long prison sentence?
