BGT’s The Witch breaks silence after being unmasked as the show’s freakiest ever act
Britain's Got Talent contestant The Witch has broken their silence after his identity was finally unmasked.
The ITV talent show's most unusual act ever left judging panel Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams completely bowled over during last year's series.
The Witch was utterly terrifying, as the mystery person dressed up in a black billowing cape, and opted for a scary old woman mask complete with stringy brunette tresses and black lips.
The Witch also showed off black nail varnish and wrinkly hands, and held a staff in one hand and an apple in the other – very similar to the evil queen's wicked witch in Snow White.
Actor Martin Portlock has finally been revealed as the man under the mask, after fellow star Marc Spellman outed him on his official YouTube account.
Master illusionist Marc has also starred on Britain's Got Talent, appearing on the competition twice.
The performer shared: "He [Martin] was sworn to secrecy too, he couldn't tell anybody that he was the Witch."
"I really think Martin deserves huge credit and recognition for being such an iconic character as the Witch on Britain's Got Talent," Marc added.
After the magician explained who the creepy character was, Martin responded in his own video from a pub garden.
"Hi Marc, how are doing Spellman?" the performer began. "Although the Witch was a bit of an unusual character and no-one knew who it was, I hear that everyone thought it was you!
"I hope you and the family are well. I'm outside in the beautiful heat.
"It's a bit too hot for my liking," the star added with a cheeky grin.
During The Witch's stint on the popular TV show, which saw his performances involve lots of creepy crawlies, Amanda was regularly left screaming in horror.
During one appearance, The Witch came down the stage steps and handed apples to all of the judges in turn.
In a magical feat, one of them exploded into a pile of cockroaches and mealworms.
Martin's unusual magic act saw him sail straight through the competition to the semi-finals, where he was finally voted off.
Britain's Got Talent is expected to return to ITV in 2024.
