Controversial Married at First Sight Australia couple Jackson and Olivia split

Married at First Sight Australia stars Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie have called it quits.

The 28-year-old teaching student and the 30-year-old plumber competed in the ninth season of the hit Australian reality show.

On TV they had their honeymoon in Arcadia, New South Wales and in the end decided to still stay married together after the programme finished.

But the pair announced the news of their split in a joint statement which they posted on their Instagram pages, as well as screen shots of their time on the programme.

The pair wrote: "After a wonderful 10 months together we have decided to go our separate ways. There has always been a lot of love in our relationship and there will continue to be as we transition into a friendship."

They continued: "We have nothing but love and respect for one another, and no one is to blame for the end of this relationship. Simply a case of ‘almost perfect’."

The couple also requested privacy at this time as they shocked their followers and fans with the news, as they added: "We hope you all can please show compassion as we navigate this privately."

The news comes just after Olivia landed back in Australia after completing a week's long trip in the UK without her hubby, who was training for an upcoming boxing match, so opted to stay Down Under.

Her trip followed controversy after Jackson was spotted kissing a 20-year-old traffic controller on 27th May during a night out in Melbourne.

Jackson previously stated that he turned to alcohol following backlash after his appearance on the show to try and cope with the pressures of fame.

He previously commented: "All the negativity we've been getting from the show, the way I've kind of been dealing with it is to get blackout drunk, which don't get me wrong isn't an excuse and that's not acceptable."
