WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Emmerdale’s Caleb Milligan (played by Will Ash) was introduced as Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) long-lost brother earlier this year and is now starting to get to know his family. Elsewhere in ITV soap world, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) is struggling to cope with not being able to use his right hand after an accident with Carla Connor (Alison King). Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the bad news coming Paul’s way in the coming months. With both actors playing vital parts in the shows, viewers have wondered if there is any relation between the two.

Are Emmerdale’s Will Ash and Coronation Street’s Peter Ash related?

Corrie star Peter Ash has been in the ITV drama since 2018, whereas Will Ash joined Emmerdale around Christmas time.

He was already a familiar face in the world of TV though, given he has already appeared in Where the Heart Is, Clocking Off and Soldier, Soldier.

One of his biggest parts to date was as teacher Chris Mead in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road for two seasons.

But fans weren’t aware he has a familial connection with the Coronation Street actor who shares the same surname.

When Emmerdale announced Will would be joining the cast last year, Peter celebrated the news on Twitter.

He wrote: “Yes! This is my cousin, Will! He’s an absolutely fantastic actor, and was one of my big inspirations for getting into acting myself!

“Can’t wait to see him do his stuff in #Emmerdale!”

When it came out the pair are second cousins, fans couldn’t wait to take to social media themselves to express their surprise.

One soap viewer wrote: “I Googled you both earlier when I saw #Emmerdale’s tweet, (before I saw your post).

“I actually thought you were brothers coz you look so alike. And yep Google told me cousins.”

While another added: “No way, I had no idea he’s your cousin, well fantastic acting definitely runs in the family.”

Both stars have got some emotional scenes coming up in their ITV dramas.

Caleb has shaken things up for the Dingle family since he arrived in the village, much to Cain’s annoyance.

He refuses to make peace with him so the brothers will continue to be at war with one another for the foreseeable.

Caleb is also looking like he’s going to make a deal with Kim Tate (Claire King) who wants him to invest him a new stud farm.

On the cobbles though, Paul is going to receive a devastating diagnosis in the coming weeks.

Paul has been unable to use his right hand since he was knocked over by the Underworld van driven by Carla after she was drugged with LSD by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

This was just the catalyst which pushed Paul to go to the doctors where he will be told he has MND (Motor Neurone Disease), which is a life-shortening condition.

Paul is going to keep his diagnosis a secret from his loved ones but how long will he be able to hide the truth for?

Emmerdale and Coronation Street are available to watch four times a week on ITV.
